While 2023 has been a banner year for video games, there are more titles on the horizon to end the year on a high note, including Alan Wake 2. The sequel to Remedy Entertainment’s cult classic action-horror title, Alan Wake 2, is already in development expected by gamers for years. The game plans to continue the horror writer’s story and kickstart the game Solution Shared universe. As the game’s launch nears the finish line, Remedy has shared news about preload. After all, the game is quite large in size and not everyone has a fast internet connection. So, if you are someone who can’t wait enough and want to get Alan Wake 2 on your platform now, check out our pre-load guide below and start downloading.
Alan Wake 2 Preload date and time

Remedy Entertainment has shared the essential details surrounding the Alan Wake 2 preload via an official X message (formerly Twitter). The preload is exclusive to the Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 consoles.
At the time of writing this article, the pre-load for Alan Wake 2 has been completed live. You can immediately download the game from the respective console stores and prepare it for launch. One thing that may confuse some players is the omission of preload for PC players. Unfortunately, PC does not receive a preload period for Alan Wake 2. The reason may be the exclusivity of the Epic Games Store. The platform has never previously offered preload titles. Moreover, the store does not support video game preloads, which is why PC players will have to wait for Alan Wake 2 to hit the market. October 27, 2023.
Alan Wake 2 Game Install Size
unlike Starfield, where the install size of the game was not officially confirmed and influencers revealed the same, Remedy has revealed the install size for the game. Unfortunately, it follows the current trend of games getting bigger. The installation sizes for the game on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S are as follows:
- PlayStation 5: 85GB
- Xbox Series X/S: 82GB
Both the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S install sizes are smaller than at EGS launch. The PC version of Alan Wake 2 clocks around the clock 86GB. One thing we’re not sure about is if this is the final launch size for the game, including the day-one patch. However, as Alan Wake 2 is a digital-only title, we expect this size to include the day one patch.
How to preload Alan Wake 2 now
