Insomniac has finally released Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and with it comes a number of new things that have been upgraded from the original. While you can read our Spider-Man 2 review for the full scoop, our focus today is on one of the game’s main villains. You’ve no doubt already deduced that we’re talking about Venom. A big question many have is whether you can play as Venom in the game. To find out the answer, we recommend you read on as we tell you if you can play as Venom and run wild.

Can you play as Venom in Spider-Man 2?
To answer your question: yes, you can play as Venom in Spider-Man 2. However, this is only for one mission that takes place at the end of the game’s second act. The mission is called “Don’t be Scared” and takes place in Oscorp Tower.
Once Peter successfully takes the symbiote suit from him, he brings it to Harry and tries to convince him to abandon it. However, sick and close to dying, Harry puts it on anyway and completely transforms into Venom. This is where you, the player, get the chance to play as Venom as you try to escape from Oscorp Tower.
After escaping the tower, the player Venom takes part in a giant boss bottle against Kraven the Hunter. The entire boss fight and the section is overall quite amazing and satisfying to play. However, as mentioned above, you can only play as Venom once throughout the entire game, so enjoy it and make the most of it.
How to get the Venom suit in Spider-Man 2
In addition to being able to play Venom in Spider-Man 2, players will have the chance to secure the Venom suit and don it as Peter Parker in the game. The game is a linear adventure and follows certain paths that players must take to get to the suit.
To get the Venom Suit, you have to complete a certain mission that will earn you the Venom Suit in Spider-Man 2. This mission is called “Good Men” and is the 15th mission in the game. As you can see for yourself, the mission is around 50%, so you will have to play for a few hours to get this suit.
During the mission, Good Men, Peter and Harry go to Kraven’s secret base after discovering that the Hunters have kidnapped Mary Jane. The last one Dr. tried. Connors, also known as The Lizard, to locate a reformed criminal. As you may have read in our review, Kraven the Hunter slowly eliminates all current and former supervillains in an attempt to find the greatest prey. Kraven thought that Dr. Connors, if he were to forcibly convert to the Lizard, would fight him.
However, before the fight can begin, Peter tries to stop Kraven, but is instead fatally wounded by the former’s knife. After being carried to a nearby area, Peter succumbs to his injuries. However, before he can die, Harry accidentally transfers his Venom powers to Peter, bringing him back to life and healing him completely. This in turn too gives Peter the Venom suit and all his amazing powers.
Once players complete the Good Men mission, they’ll get the Venom Suit in Spider-Man 2. Plus, as you keep playing, you’ll slowly unlock the best Peter Parker abilities, including symbiote powers. Even if you equip the best Peter Parker suits for Peter Parker, you can still use the Venom suit.
Is there a way to unlock Venom earlier in Spider-Man 2?
Unfortunately, the only way to unlock Venom in Spider-Man is to follow the sections above. As such, you cannot access the suit or its powers until you complete the missions above. As we mentioned earlier, the game follows a traditional story path, which is very linear in nature. Therefore, we recommend that you play the game and enjoy the adventure as it comes to you.
