At this year’s CES, Razer went for a surprise launch. It has teamed up with Fossil to launch a limited edition variant of the Fossil Gen 6 smartwatch, which “designed for gamers”, according to the two companies. The Razer X Fossil Gen 6 Smartwatch only has 1,337 units worldwide. These are all the game elements it brings.
Razer x Fossil Gen 6 Smartwatch Launched
Right now, you should know right away that the Razer x Fossil Gen 6 smartwatch isn’t necessarily a gamer smartwatch. It is a Razer version of Fossil’s existing Gen 6 smartwatch which was launched last year. While it has the same features as the original Gen 6 model, the Razer x Fossil model includes a few extra items from the Razer brand.
For starters, the Razer x Fossil Gen 6 comes with a additional strap in Razer’s signature neon green color, along with the standard black. Then there are three unique Razer-branded watch faces: Analog, Text, and chrome. These can also be downloaded on other Gen 6 smartwatch models.
While the first two are self-explanatory and feature the Razer logo and signature font, the Chroma watch face allows users to sync the watch’s RGB lighting effect with Razer’s other Chroma-supported products such as keyboards, mice, and headphones. However, it is worth noting that there is no RGB lighting on the case of the smartwatch. You will see an RGB halo ring on the edges of the dial.
As for the main specs and features of the Razer x Fossil Gen 6, it has a 1.28-inch round AMOLED display with touch support and powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 4100+ platform, for fast app loading times and lower power consumption. However, it also doesn’t get the benefits of WearOS 3.0, which is currently exclusive to the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 series. The Razer x Fossil Gen 6 runs on the previous-generation Wear OS 2.0 and won’t get the Wear OS 3.0 update until mid-2022.
Apart from this, the smartwatch comes with standard health tracking features such as continuous heart rate monitoring, sleep monitoring and blood oxygen level (SpO2) monitoring functions. There is support for Bluetooth 5.0 for a lag-free wireless connection, and it comes with a fast charge function which charges the wearable to 80% in just 30 minutes.
Price and availability
The Razer x Fossil Gen 6 smartwatch sells for $329 (~Rs 24,500), which is $30 (~Rs 2,230) more than the price of the standard Fossil Gen 6 model.
