We’re not even halfway through Genshin Impact 4.1 and there are already a lot of Genshin Impact 4.2 leaks and rumors popping up. For those who don’t know, Genshin Impact 4.1 introduced two new characters – Neuvillette And Wriothesley in addition to numerous new and old characters appearing in the Archon Quest, which was mildly traumatizing for us players and ten times more so for Furina at Knave’s tea party while Neuvillette was away on business. Anyway, Genshin Impact 4.2 will bring important lore, expand the Fontaine region further east and introduce new bosses, events and a lot of good stuff, so here’s everything we know so far about the release date, banners and characters from Genshin Impact 4.2 , and of course those precious Primogems.
Genshin Impact 4.2 Release Date
Version 4.2 of Genshin Impact will be released on November 8 once the second phase of version 4.1 ends. Each Genshin Impact version lasts 42 days and consists of two phases of 21 days each. Since 4.1 was released on September 27, the first phase ends on October 18 and the second phase on November 7. The pre-install feature will be available a few days before the release date of Genshin Impact, i.e. November 8.
Genshin Impact 4.2 Livestream Date
Genshin Impact Livestream for an upcoming version will be held two weeks before the said version releases. In the case of Genshin Impact 4.2, the livestream should be scheduled for October 27, i.e. Friday. You can watch the live stream on the official Genshin Impact Twitch channel first, followed by that of the game Youtube Channel later on the day.
Genshin Impact 4.2 Banners: Characters and Weapons
Rumor has it that the first half of Genshin Impact will feature Furina and Baizhu, while the second half will feature Cyno and Ayato. However, the order of the banners of the second half is still unknown. As for the four-star characters, the first half will feature Charolette, Beidou, and Collei; As of now, we have no information about the four-star characters appearing in the second half of Genshin Impact 4.2.
As for the weapon banner in Genshin Impact 4.2, you can expect Furina’s and Baizhu’s signature weapons Splendor of Still Waters and Jadefall’s Splendor to appear in the first phase. Looking at the characters, the weapon banner in the second phase will definitely include Staff of the Scarlet Sands and Haran Geppaku Futsu, Cyno and Ayato’s signature weapons respectively. Genshin Impact Card Expansion
As we mentioned earlier, Fontaine will expand slightly east towards Liyue, adding a series of new islands to the edges of where the map ends in the east. This includes both land and a new underwater area that looks huge.
To give you some perspective, here is the current map of Fontaine.
As you can see (and no, I didn’t zoom out to improve my progress), the current map of Fontaine is stretched more upwards than to the sides. Genshin Impact 4.2 should add more regions to the right, towards Liyue. This also gives us a hint about the rumored new Liyue region called Chenyu Vale, coming sometime in 4.4. We’ve already heard from some NPCs that most people enter Fontaine through Chenyu Vale, because traveling through the Sumeru Desert is a tough sport.
Genshin Impact 4.2: New Bosses
Genshin Impact 4.2 will bring a new weekly boss that is closely related to the lore and story Child. Early mockups of the boss were recently leaked, indicating it will be a behemoth of a boss. Like any weekly boss, the Whale boss will also have phases where he summons a humanoid who looks suspiciously like Childe and looks like a mix of him in Foul Legacy form and the seven knights we dealt with in the Chasm (we leave it at that).
Most things about the boss have been leaked, including the attack patterns we have you can’t even willingly show it because most of the material has been removed. There are still some remnants of the leak left. We are NOT excited to have this boss in the Spiral Abyss; please Hoyo, have mercy!

Genshin Impact 4.2 Events
So far, four Genshin Impact 4.2 events have been leaked and one of them is a flagship event. If you didn’t know, Genshin Impact gives players free characters during versions ending in an even number and a free weapon during odd-numbered versions. 4.2’s flagship event will be hosted by an NPC named Thelxie and will be a combat event where players will receive various buffs to complete challenges. After successfully completing the event objectives, players can redeem the event’s limited currency for a free Freminet and other rewards.
