  • First, open the Instagram app on your Android and iOS device.
  • Then open the reel you want to download, from your Feed, Discover, or Saved section of the app.

You can also disable downloading before posting a reel to Instagram. To do this:

  • When you create or upload an Instagram Reel, tap Next one.
  • Then scroll down and go to Advanced settings on the Reel Settings page.

  • Here you will find the ‘Download your roles’ section. Below you will see the option to use the “Let people download your reels.” This option is enabled by default for public accounts of users over 18 years of age. Tap it to turn it off.
  • Now you see one small pop-up window which allows you to choose to disable downloading for just the reel you upload or for all your Instagram reels. Tap the setting you want and you’re done.
