There is also an official way to test out some of the new Minecraft 1.19 features in the current update. The methods we’ve covered here work differently on: Minecraft Java vs Bedrock Editions. So, if one method doesn’t suit your game, use the table below to move on to the next. That said, let’s not put it off any longer and figure out how to get Minecraft 1.19 features right now.
Download Minecraft 1.19 Beta Update on Windows, Xbox and Android
Like most recent updates, Minecraft 1.19 beta features are officially available only for the Bedrock Edition. So if you’re using the Java edition of the game, skip to the next section to see what features are available in the existing 1.19 beta update.
If you have installed Minecraft Bedrock Edition on your Windows PC, follow our detailed step-by-step guide to learn how to sign up for and install the Minecraft 1.19 beta update on your computer. You need to install Minecraft for Windows on your PC first, then you need to install the Xbox Insider app and sign up for the beta. Once you do that you will receive an update for the game and this is the latest beta version. You can find all the instructions in the guide linked above.
Not only that, but we’ve included the instructions to get the 1.19 beta on your Xbox One and Android device using the Minecraft Pocket Edition (MCPE) 1.19 beta. So yes, you can try out some of the new features on your console and mobile device as well.
Test the new features of Minecraft 1.19 Wild Update
After installing the beta, you can try out several upcoming features in the Minecraft 1.19 The Wild update. Let’s go through them one by one. Although, make sure your world mode is creative before you do this because only then this game will allow you to spawn these items in your Minecraft world.
One of the newest and most exciting mobs to come to the game with the Minecraft 1.19 update is frogs. To see what they look like, search for “spawn frog” in your creative inventory by pressing E or the inventory button. Doing so will bring you to the Spawn Frog egg, which you can then place in your normal inventory at the bottom of the screen.
Once you have the egg, you can place it on the ground to spawn frogs in your world. Currently, Minecraft 1.19 has: 3 different variants of the frog. You can get a tropical white frog in warm biomes, a green frog in cold biomes, and the standard orange frog is common biomes. Here’s a look at what the frog crowd looks like in each of these Minecraft 1.19 biomes here:
Like the frogs, you can also find frog lights in your creative inventory. However, being able to make them in-game is much more fun. Froglights do not have a specific crafting recipe. Instead, they are removed when theyrog eats a baby slime. Strange as it may sound, it makes up for a nice image. Not to mention, you can get 3 different fog lights depending on the color of the frog that drops it. Check out how to get Froglights in Minecraft 1.19 here:
Tadpoles & Eggs
The next item you can get from the Minecraft 1.19 beta update is the tadpole crowd. Unlike most in-game mobs, Minecraft doesn’t have baby frogs. Instead, in parallel to the real world, it has introduced tadpoles. Frogs spawn naturally frog eggs backwater after mating. You can also manually place them in the water using your creative inventory. Then, within about 15 minutes in the game, the eggs hatch first grow into tadpoles and then in frogs.
Alternatively, the update also adds: tadpoles hatching eggs which you can use to spawn them directly into your world. Not to mention, like the other in-game fish, tadpoles can also be caught in a water bucket. You will find easily”tadpole in a bucket” in your creative inventory.
How to Get Minecraft 1.19 Features on Java Edition
The most obvious way to get 1.19 features on Minecraft Java is to wait for the beta snapshots to be released. Java editions usually get them 6-8 weeks before the release date. Assuming that the Rumors Minecraft 1.19 Release Date of April 2022 turns out to be true, even then the release of the beta snapshots is still months away. So if you don’t want to wait, you can use the following mods to get Minecraft 1.19 features right now. However, make sure install Forge in Minecraft to run the mods below.
The Wild Update 1.19 Mod
This is one of the best and most powerful Minecraft mods of all time and brings all the announced features of the 1.19 wild update to Minecraft 1.18 Update. You have the swamp biome and its mangrove variant with frogs, fireflies and tadpoles. But that’s not all, because it also adds the deep darkness to the game. Even the current Bedrock beta doesn’t have the deep dark. And if you’re wondering, it’s has the blind director with a functioning AI.
We’re not sure how close the mod is to the actual feature set, but it seems pretty reliable. There are no known bugs or errors. We tested this mod on a mediocre build without any lag in the game. So if you’re ready to meet the Warden, it’s time to download this mod.

The Missing Villages Mod
In addition to the announced features, many players are looking forward to two missing villages in the game. Yes, we are talking about the jungle and swamp villages. Both have village models in the game, but the villages don’t spawn under any circumstances for some reason. We expect the Minecraft 1.19 Wild update to fix this situation. However, this somewhat old mod does a lot more.
It adds swamp and jungle villages to the game, but with unique biome-based features. The swamp huts are built on elevated surfaces, keeping them away from the swamp water. Meanwhile, the jungle villages have hay roofs and tree-like pillar-based elevations. Overall, this mod completes the existing game.

Biomes O’ Plenty Mod
The last mod that now allows you to get Minecraft 1.19 features is Biomes O’ Plenty. If you have used the best minecraft mods before, chances are you already know this popular mod. As the name suggests, this mod adds and enhances the in-game biomes. Coincidentally, that’s also the general theme of the Wild update. However, this mod takes it to a new level.
Rather than just improving existing biomes, it adds a variety of new wild biomes to the game. You get new plants, new trees, blocks and even biomes from the lower dimensions. The original Minecraft 1.119 Wild update won’t be as diverse as this mod, which will only give you one more reason to install it.
