The new iOS update, as suggested by a security document, also provides a solution to a HomeKit problem, which caused a denial-of-service (DDoS) attack. This would cause the iPhone to crash or freeze. The aforementioned vulnerability, first noted by security researcher Trevor Spiniolas, could affect iPhones with iOS 14.7 and later and iPads with iPadOS 14.7 or later.

Apple has also released the iPadOS 15.2.1 update, which fixes similar issues. The updates are available for iPhone 6s and later, iPad Pro (all models), iPad Air 2 and later, iPad 5th generation and later, iPad mini 4 and later, and iPod touch (7th generation).

To download the update, go to the Settings of your iPhone or iPad -> General -> Software Update, and the new update should be waiting for you. Hit the “Install” button to get the latest update.
