It’s been a while since the first season of Marvel’s critically acclaimed animated series What If? came out. Fans initially thought it was a one-off show, but the news of the second season left fans confused. And finally the trailer and release date of What If? Season 2 is here.
The trailer for What if? season 2 was released yesterday and it certainly looks promising. We see certain well-known characters and certain not so well-known characters in this trailer with some amazing possibilities for the MCU in the future.
At the very beginning of the trailer, we see that instead of Scott Lang, Hank Pym is Ant-Man, and instead of T’Challa, King T’Chaka is Black Panther. This could point to a team of Avengers featuring the predecessors of our current heroes, and they are hunting down a child with supernatural powers who appears to be Star Lord of Peter Quill as a child who had discovered his divine powers a little too early.
In another frame we get to see the very popular Thor Ragnarok villain, Hela. The trailer also shows Xu Wenwu, Shang-Chi’s father, and his 10 power rings, a frame of what possibly appears to be Odin, and a bunch of other details. Exciting, isn’t it? But that’s not all, as there’s an interesting twist in the release.
What if season 2 promises a new episode every day?
At the end of the trailer, it is revealed that What If season 2 a official release date of December 22, 2023. Not only that, but instead of following the regular fashion of one episode a week, what if? Season 2 will release one episode per day, meaning fans can enjoy the series for nine consecutive days.
This is a huge change as it has been a long time since a web series has followed this format. Netflix usually releases all episodes of its latest series at once. So it remains to be seen whether this will work out in Marvel’s favor or not. Now that almost everything has been revealed about What If season 2, let’s wait for December 22, 2023 and prepare to be amazed like last time.
