There are three major upgrades to the OnePlus 11: the display, performance and battery life. OnePlus 12 features a 6.82-inch BOE-made X1 2K OLED display with a resolution of 1440 x 3168 pixels, which can be up to 4500 nits bright, making it the phone with the brightest screen on the market. It is an LTPO screen that can reduce the refresh rate to 1 Hz. The OnePlus 12 display is A+ certified by DisplayMate, which means it has great color accuracy and brightness.

Performance is also being boosted this year thanks to Qualcomm’s 8 Gen 3. We compared the same with other contenders in the market such as Apple’s recent A17 Pro and Qualcomm’s 8 Gen 2 itself, and the 8 Gen 3 offers significant performance improvements thanks to its improved core structure. Qualcomm claims the 8 Gen 3 is 30% faster than the 8 Gen 2.

The battery also gets a big increase to 5,400 mAh, from 5,000 mAh on the OnePlus 11. However, charging speeds remain the same at 100W; although one of the features returning this year is wireless charging with a maximum of 50W, which was exempt from OnePlus 11 last year. It also has 10W reverse wireless charging to fuel other devices and accessories.

The base variant of the OnePlus 12 comes with 256GB of storage coupled with 12GB of RAM. It remains to be seen whether this will also be the case for the global units, but it is good news for consumers nonetheless. Moreover, the phone will also be available in 16GB/512GB, 16GB/1TB, and 24GB/1TB variants.

The OnePlus 12’s primary camera is a 50MP wide Sony LYT-808 sensor, while the secondary camera is a 48MP ultra-wide Sony IMX 581 sensor, the same as the OnePlus 11’s ultra-wide sensor. However, the periscope lens gets an upgrade from 48 MP on the OnePlus 11 to a 64 MP omnivision OV64B unit that can zoom up to 3x without loss of quality.

The OnePlus 12 runs Android 14-based ColorOS 14 out of the box in China. The global unity should arrive with OxygenOS 14.

The new additions in the features include a new Rain touch technology that allows you to use the One Plus 12 even in the rain and a new X-axis linear motor for haptics AAC Technologies (CSA+ 0916) Bionic vibration motor codenamed Megatron.
