The Galaxy M32 is the newest member of the budget-conscious M series from Samsung and offers a number of interesting features. It has a Full HD + AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 90 Hz and a large 6,000 mAh battery. It also runs the latest version of Samsung’s One UI on Android 11. I got my hands on the new Galaxy M32 and here are my first impressions.

The Galaxy M32 starts at Rs. 14,999 in India for the base variant with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. The high-end variant costs Rs 16,999 for 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. This smartphone is available in two colors, light blue and black. I have the basic version in light blue with me.

The Galaxy M32 is a large smartphone and is remarkably thick. It is 9.3 mm thick and weighs 196 g. Samsung has curved the sides of the frame to mask the bulk and make it easier to hold. The frame is also arched at the top and bottom, which gives it a neat look. At the top, the Galaxy M32 only has the secondary microphone, while at the bottom is the 3.5mm headphone jack, primary microphone, USB Type-C port, and speaker.

Samsung has opted for a capacitive fingerprint scanner attached to the side for the Galaxy M32. It’s recessed slightly so it’s easy to find. It’s achievable, but the volume controls are a little high which takes a while to reach. You only have the SIM card slot on the left. It has two nano SIM slots and a dedicated microSD slot for memory expansion.

On the back, I like how Samsung installed the camera module in the top left corner. This allows the phone to lie flat on a table. The Galaxy M32 has a 64-megapixel primary camera, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, a 2-megapixel macro camera, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. The back wall is made of plastic and has a striped pattern.

The Galaxy M32 has a 6.4-inch AMOLED screen with Full HD + resolution and a refresh rate of 90Hz. Samsung also claims that this display has a peak brightness of 800 nits in high brightness mode, which I will test during the full test. The display has a dewdrop notch that Samsung calls “Infinity-U”. The notch houses a 20-megapixel selfie shooter. Samsung packed a 6,000 mAh battery. This phone supports 25W fast charging, but Samsung only offers a 15W charger in the box.

Samsung has opted for the MediaTek Helio G80 processor for the Galaxy M32. I have the basic version with 4 GB of RAM and in the short time that I have used it so far, I have felt comfortable with normal daily tasks. I’ll run our entire suite of benchmark tests on the Galaxy M32 to see how it fares and I’ll cover that in the full review.

The software experience felt very familiar as Samsung One uses UI 3.1 on the Galaxy M32 running on Android 11. The phone came with a few apps pre-installed which was a bit of a disappointment. Other apps were also suggested to install during the installation process, and skipping them wasn’t easy.

With the Galaxy M32, Samsung offers a large battery and an AMOLED display with a high refresh rate at a tempting price. So is this the best set of features you can get for the price? I’ll be putting the Galaxy M32 to the test in the full review, so keep an eye out for Gadgets 360.
