WhatsApp Web Gets Global Media Player; Will Soon Reach All Mobile Users

whatsapp recently introduced the global media player, which allows users to listen to voice memos in the background for iOS beta users. Now the feature is being extended to desktop users, which gives us a sense that it will be available to everyone soon. Here are the details.

WhatsApp Desktop users have an updated voice note feature

A report from WABetaInfo has revealed that WhatsApp de new global media player for WhatsApp Desktop beta 2.2204.5. This feature allows users to listen to a voice note while scrolling through another chat.

Screenshots shared by WABetaInfo show that while the voice note or audio is playing and a user switches to another chat, the audio continues to play and the media player moves to the bottom of the chat list. In iOS, the media player appears at the top.

The global media player will consist of the play/pause button and the progress indicator. There will also be an option to end the playback of the voice note with a close button and also the sender’s profile picture.

However, the feature is currently available to beta users and there is no word on when it will reach the general public. If you are a beta tester, you can use it now.

This comes after WhatsApp was recently found tests the ability to pause and resume voice recordings on the web version. It is not yet known when these two features will be introduced as part of the stable release.
