WhatsApp’s Alternate Profile Will Help You Mask Your Identity

WhatsApp is the only app that continues to receive a steady dose of improvements. Another new WhatsApp feature is in the works, and this time Meta is looking forward to helping us improve privacy and make our lives more organized. If all goes well, we’re pretty sure you’ll be able to have an alternative profile for the same account on WhatsApp. This upcoming feature is poised to improve privacy and overall security.

Spotted by WABetaInfo (Beta for Android, the new feature is called ‘Alternative Profile’. and will be available in the Profile menu. Simply put, users can create an alternate profile, which will be shown to users who are not allowed to see the creator’s primary profile photo. Depending on your privacy settings, people outside may not be able to see any information other than this profile. This also means that any numbers not in your contact list will see this alternate profile photo and name instead of your real information.

The new alternate profile feature will work wonders in masking information and improving privacy. So if you are someone in the industry where unknown numbers contact you regularly, they can see this profile while your true identity is still hidden. In fact, WABetaInfo states that if future WhatsApp usernames come out, the alternate profile feature can help with easy categorization.

The rollout of WhatsApp’s alternative profile feature has not yet been confirmed. WABeta claims it is in development and will be available in a future update to the app. Until then, check out the newly added ones WhatsApp channels for some new features.
