Xiaomi May Bid Goodbye to MIUI for MiOS

More MIUI 13 screenshots leak ahead of possible release

Xiaomi is planning a big change for MIUI – it may ditch it completely for a new operating system. The latest rumor is that Xiaomi may not introduce MIUI 15 and replace it with a new operating system, possibly called MiOS. Check out the details below.

RIP MIUI?

Renowned tipster Digital chat station has revealed that MIUI will cease to exist. It is said to be MIUI14 was the last iteration. If this turns out to be true, there’s a chance we’ll see the new MiOS straight away this year instead MIUI15.

It remains to be seen whether this is another skin based on Android or a new operating system from Xiaomi. This is expected to be available on Xiaomi smartphones, wearables, tablets and even China-exclusive electric vehicles.

That said, a report Through XiaomiUI claims otherwise. It is suggested that Xiaomi is still testing MIUI 15 and will release it with the upcoming Xiaomi 14 smartphones, which could arrive later this year. So this might just be a rumor and Xiaomi is going ahead with its MIUI skin.

However, the report does not dismiss the existence of MiOS and hints at the switch in the future. There are chances that this can be reserved for users in China and MIUI will be a global thing. This is similar to how OnePlus had HydrogenOS for China and OxygenOS for other markets. Currently, it uses ColorOS for OnePlus phones in China and continues to use OxygenOS for regions outside China.
