Download Fake News: No, WhatsApp Is Now Getting a Third Blue Tick to Detect Screenshots for free
WhatsApp doesn’t get a third blue tick
Recently, many users started speculating about the third blue tick on WhatsApp. However, WABetaInfo (via a tweet), which is known for leaking WhatsApp-related details, confirmed that this rumor is fake.
The third check would have let users know if someone took a screenshot of the chat or vanishing media they uploaded. It was expected to complement the existing two-tick system. If you are a regular WhatsApp user, you would know that when you message someone you will see a little gray check mark on your message bubble.
When the message is delivered to the recipient, a similar check is added next to the existing check. And when the recipient finally opens the chat and reads your message, the double check marks on your message will turn blue. There’s no triple tick functionality yet, and WhatsApp doesn’t plan to add one anytime soon.
For those who don’t know, the ability to detect if a screenshot has been taken is available in Snapchat and Instagram DM Vanish mode. Although it is one of many missing features in WhatsApp, it is confirmed that WhatsApp is not developing such a feature.
As for what is expected to achieve WhatsApp, it was recently unveiled that the messaging platform can bring a new page of contact details, the ability to search for nearby businesses and much more.
