Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is a much bigger step than any superhero game we’ve played before. If you have your Spider-Man 2 review, you already know what we’re talking about. In addition to the grander story, however, a major upgrade has also been made to all enemies and other elements, which makes things a lot more difficult. If you’ve just opened the game and are just getting started, you might need some help. After completing our playthrough, we’ve put together the 10 best Spider-Man 2 tips and tricks so you can start your journey on the right foot and continue it the right way. So without further ado, let’s get started.
1. Use the Web Wings often
Spider-Man 2 is shaking up the traversal game by putting fast travel behind district progression. However, that’s because the game gives players what it calls “Webwings‘Super early in the game. True to their name, these wings let our spideys fly around town with ease and reach new heights.

Since you’ll be doing a lot of swinging during your stay in New York, we recommend using the new Web Wings as often as possible to get somewhere quickly. All you have to do to use them is gain enough height by swinging and by pressing the Triangle button on your controller to open them. Dynamically manage your web wings and swings, and you’ll be on your mission in no time.
2. Use Super Slingshot anywhere
When I started my playthrough, I loved the Super Slingshot ability. The ability to push tension through webs and pierce the air was amazing. However, I initially thought this was only possible through fixed catapult locations I found on the map. I quickly discovered that this was not the case when I started launching from any building.

If you have the same confusion, go to a building or even the road and learn it use Super Slingshot in Spider-Man 2 via the guide linked here. Congratulations, you can now launch a catapult anywhere. Make sure you pair it with Web Wings for maximum ease of travel throughout NYC.
3. Invest in the right skills and equivalents
Spider-Man 2 comes with a plethora of new abilities, including a new shared tree for Peter and Miles. Since the game is quite generous in terms of level progression, you get easy access to skill points. However, if you’re as lazy as I am sometimes, you might be able to put off learning new skills for later. I would advise thinking the opposite and being proactive in your choices.

Once you’ve collected enough points, go to the Skills tab and create the right combination that suits you. As a final note, we also recommend investing equally in Peter and Miles so that playing both is as easy as pie.
4. Sometimes stealth is better
In our Spider-Man 2 review, we specifically mentioned that the AI is stronger this time around. Furthermore, it also tends to surround you if you fight it with brute force. While a seasoned player can handle it, newbies may have trouble with it. For those cases and more, Insomniac has offered multiple approaches to the same situation, including a nice stealth mechanic.

Luckily, sneaking in Spider-Man 2 is easy. Just stay out of sight and aware and take down enemies one by one with silent takedowns (just like in the 2018 game). You can even use the web line gadget to create routes above the AI. So the next time you think you can’t handle a fight, take the easy route.
5. Parry enemies often
When you finally face enemies, don’t panic. There are multiple enemy types in Spider-Man 2, including some that can only be parried or dodged. However, you can only avoid the enemies for so long. To make parrying easier, Spider-Man 2 displays helpful color rings above enemy heads when it’s time.

Just wait for the rings to spin red and immediately press “L1.” This ensures that Spider-Man 2 pushes the enemy back and gives you a quick opening to launch your own offensive. Don’t forget to parry as many times as possible to keep the tide in your favor and defeat them all.
6. Get out the weapons first
While parrying can get you quite far, something has to be said about the annoying enemies on top of towers with guns. Spider-Man 1 had the same enemy type, and they were annoying back then too. This is made worse by the fact that the RPG fires off bad guys that almost eliminate you if you can’t avoid the missiles. However, to avoid that, I suggest first grabbing the enemies with weapons and taking them out.

This ensures that you can interact with other AI without interruption. To take out the weapons first, simply tie them up and throw them around, or simply rip the weapons out of their hands, and you’re golden.
7. Buy another focus bar
Like the previous titles, Spider-Man 2 comes with a focus bar which can be used to heal yourself or finish off an enemy. However, the game only starts us with a single bar, resulting in having to maneuver between the above choices. However, as you progress through the game, you can make your life easier by unlocking another bar.

Since the game doesn’t tell you to do it, you have to do it yourself. For that, go to our devotee Technical guide to Spider-Man 2 suits and learn how. Once you’re done, it becomes easier to heal and perform finishers in one go.
8. Don’t forget your gadgets
It’s easy, especially in the heat of the moment, to forget that in addition to their skills and abilities, the Spider-Men have some cool gadgets they can use. Innovative as they are, Peter and Miles have created a wide range of these gadgets that you can use both from a distance and up close.

So while gadgets like web grabbers are good for crowd control, the Sonic Grenade stops pesky enemies by stunning them. Therefore, don’t forget to use the best gadgets in Spider-Man 2 to gain a tactical advantage.
9. There’s no shame in lowering the difficulty
I don’t mind Spider-Man 2’s increased difficulty. However, there’s a fine line between challenging and frustrating, and you want to make sure you’re on the right side. So if you find yourself often getting angry in the game, then it’s time to lower the difficulty.
Go to Settings -> Gameplay -> Challenge Level and change the difficulty to your desired setting. We advise “Friendly“if it’s too much and”Astonishing” for a balanced experience.

Changing the difficulty has no effect other than how the enemies react to you. So if you’re worried about this changing the storyline somehow, don’t be.
10. Take it easy
Besides everything else, Spider-Man 2 is a beautiful and vibrant narrative adventure. As such, the game features a story that slowly weaves and unravels itself. If you rush it, you will most likely miss important events or simply not be able to absorb the events with the intensity with which they were intended. So while it may be tempting to do a speedrun and unleash all your powers, we recommend taking it easy and enjoying the ride to fully absorb Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.

We hope the above Spider-Man 2 tips and tricks help you get the most out of this game. Keep in mind that depending on how you play it, your mileage may vary. Nevertheless, we thought it was a great ride. Have you already completed the game and do you have any tips we can add? Post them in the comments below!
