Did Jogo kill Nanami in JJK?

The 15th episode of the second season started with a battle between the reincarnated Toji Fushiguro and Dagon. Toji acted as a savior and saved his son Megumi, Nanami, Maki and Naobito Zenin, who were in a seriously disadvantageous situation. Toji then took Megumi alone to confront him. This is when Jogo, one of the cursed spirits of the special class, suddenly appeared and looked at the remains of Dagon who had just been ruthlessly murdered by Toji.

Before the wizards could process who had just appeared, within a split second, Jogo went first to Nanami and burned him. Keep in mind that Nanami was already seriously injured during his fight with Dagon. When Maki realizes what is happening here, she is next in line to be burned by Jogo.

Now the only wizard left is Naobito Zenin. He tries to use his Projection Sorcery technique to take down Jogo, but the curse that ends up getting ahead of him in terms of power levels catches him like a rat using his technique. And just like Maki and Nanami’s fate, Naobito was also burned to death, as seen in the anime.

So of course Jogo burned the already weakened Nanami. But did Jogo kill Nanami with his attack? If you want to know the truth about who survives and who doesn’t after the aforementioned series of events, we’ve answered that below. But be warned: the following explanation contains major spoilers!

Heavy Spoilers warning: The sections below contain heavy spoilers about Nanami in the JJK series. We highly recommend reading the manga or watching the anime (through season 2) to avoid ruining your intended experience.

Is Nanami dead or alive now?

So if you’re here, you definitely want to know the outcome of Jogo’s attack on Nanami, right? In fact, you want to know whether Nanami sensei survived that fatal blow or not. I know that feeling because it was the same for me when I read the manga.

The real truth is that Nanami survived that incineration attack even after you are in a weakened state. You can see that this guy’s endurance is just off the chart! Furthermore, Maki survives the attack, but at the cost of burning half of her face, as does Nanami. The only one who didn’t make it out alive is Naobita Zenin. It has now been confirmed that he was killed by Jogo.

The events described above will take place in the upcoming episodes in Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2. So to answer your question: Nanami is still alive for now and he is in bad shape.

The real answer to whether Nanami survives the whole Shibuya incident or not is the next question that comes to mind. How will he be able to get out of this living hell in such a terrible condition? Will he even survive? Now if you also want to look for an answer to this last set of questions, be careful (Sukuna can use a slash) and skip to the next section.

But will Nanami eventually die?

You must have gathered by now that at this point Nanami is one step away from marching to heaven. His half-burnt face reminds me of Harvey Dent (Two-Face) from Batman, but he’s alive.

Fast forward to manga chapter 120, where Nanami walks through Shibuya station in a distressed state. At this stage, it seemed that Nanami had given up on his life as he continued to search for Megumi and worry about his comrades. Call it fate or luck, Nanami just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time when Mahito noticed this weakened wizard. Having escaped one life-threatening blow, Nanami found a horde of transfigured humans as his next challenge.

Even on the brink of death, Nanami destroyed every enemy in his path. However, that didn’t last long as death knocked on his door and Mahito soon confronted him again. This time Mahito didn’t hold back as taking out Nanami would be a huge victory for their team. So during the decisive final phase, between 11:14 and 11:36 PM at Shibuya station, after a pep talk with Mahito, he knew that this was the end for him. That’s why Nanami told Yuji (who had just arrived) that he got it from here.

When Mahito came into close contact with Nanami’s torso, he immediately used Idle Transfiguration and contorted his body, blowing it into pieces, resulting in his death. So this is how the events led to Nanami Kento’s eventual demise in Jujutsu Kaisen. Nana-min’s death was something unexpected and was followed by Nobara’s deathwhich made this arc a depressing experience for manga readers.

And that’s all you need to know about Nanami Kento’s fate in Jujutsu Kaisen. This was a heavy blow for the fans. But JJK author Gege Akutami likes to play with our hearts and that has been further proven in recent times Battle between Sukuna and Gojo in the JJK manga. That said, what are your thoughts on this incident? Shouldn’t Nanami have survived, especially when Gojo was locked up in the Prison realm? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
