Thor and Balder are what you would call ‘Best Buddies’ or ‘Brothers in Arms’, as he is a fierce warrior who always stands by Thor’s side in battle, and therefore deserves the title of Balder the Brave.

Balder The Brave: powers and weapons

When talking about his powers, Balder the Brave is the Asgardian God of Light capable of firing beams of extremely hot light that can melt anything in its way. In addition to this super strength, he also possesses super strength, superhuman agility, endurance, and the ability to heal within seconds from any wound inflicted on him.

Talking about his weapon of choice, Balder likes going to Akimbo with two swords, one in each hand, pretty cool, right? He has used his combat skills in countless battles alongside Thor and, on some occasions, Loki as well. Balder also ruled Asgard for a while and was the one who ruled Asgard when Norman Osbourne attacked the planet with his Dark Avengers. Although Asgard was destroyed in that battle, he did not lose hope and continued to be a great leader for his people.

Balder The Brave: Future in the MCU

Who is Balder the Brave in Loki season 2? Explained

You may have first heard of Balder the Brave in Loki Season 2 Episode 3, but there’s an interesting bit of information you may not have known about. In 2022, Balder the Brave almost made up his cinematic appearance “Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness” as one of the members of the alternate timeline in which Professor Fantastic and the others were the Avengers.

Daniel Craig was cast to play the Asgardian God of Light, but unfortunately Balder the Brave never made it past the concept portrait above, where we can see Daniel in a pretty comically accurate suit for the character. It’s a shame we never got to see him in action, but I hope future Marvel projects make this possible.

Speaking of this Asgardian God’s future in the MCU, we just received an easter egg about him in Loki Season 2, where he was seen as a statue along with Odin and Thor. This could be a subtle way to let viewers know that we might see him in the upcoming Avengers films as one of the team members.

Considering that Marvel has already cast someone for the character and how close he was to appearing on screen, this assumption may remain true in the future. Balder could even appear in Loki Season 2 in future episodes, but the chances of that happening are relatively bleak.
